What is the game for you? Zadrot retrospective [megalong]

In this article I will talk about my gaming path. This is the whole story of my acquaintance with the phenomenon of the video game. About how I grew up with them and tried various genres. I am sure many will recognize themselves in my story.
There are many games here. So many.
Pleasant trip to the past.

P. S. The idea for this video appeared after a mental conversation with my friend Volodya. The article will have his quotes from that conversation, and in the video – his voice messages. Well, in the video there are memes that do not add to the text.

Video version. Soryang for a shakal footage at the very beginning. Xs, why so pushed.

Honestly, I have recently doubted that I am generally interested in games. It feels like I played the games before because I did not have other entertainments. And as if I had the games left for this. To just sit and make some kind of change of activity. Perhaps I’m subconsciously afraid that I will spend a lot of time in this. Because I spent a lot of time for games. Do not tell me, of course. You spent more time after them. I’m just interested in reflect on this, so if that – you write to me.

Friend Volodya

In fact, from different people I hear completely different answers to the question “What is the game for you?”. For some, this is the killing of time, for someone-art with their own history, and for e-sportsmen and developers, this is generally work.

Forgive me my egoism, but in this article I would more like to talk about my personal experience with such a phenomenon as video games and tell how they accompany my life. A kind of native retrospective, if you like.

Chapter 1: Childhood

Tell me what a game in your life was the very first? I ask exactly about digital entertainment, and not about catching up in the yard and jumping in garages.

Personally, I first saw a video game when my parents bought or took Dandy’s friends. It was a well -known duck hunt. This is a game where a crushing dog of many caused flaying inclinations. I was then three years old, probably, my attempts to play limited myself to poking a gun into the screen.

If anything, I was born in 1994. With dates and age I can confuse, so if I make mistakes with the chronology of the release of games, do not put on me. Memory is a very unreliable thing. Especially when it comes to childhood.

I have taken the following steps in gamers, it seems, in a few years. My parents divorced and my stepfather got. Once they could not leave me at home alone, and my stepfather took me to work. There he had a working PC, for which I was seated so that I would not distract from work. There were only two games on the computer. Creation GSC Game World: “Venom. Codename: Outbreak and Diablo 2. The first is a first -person shooter where a special purpose squad fights an alien threat that takes control of people. About Diablo, I think, no one needs to tell anyone here.

Venom. Codename: Outbreak

The funny thing is that I played this PC for 2 hours, but in none of the games I did not advance further for the first 5 minutes. They scared me wildly. Venom forced me to crap in the first Katsen when some soldier with fucker on the back of the head comes out to meet the detachment. I immediately asked to turn off this game and enable another. And in Diablo2 I could play before the mature yeti in the cave. And so 2 hours. Reached the dungeon – turn on Venom. Launch the first level, watch Katsen – turn on Diablo. Hmm. A plan called “Give a PC child so as not to interfere” a terrible collapse suffered. The stepfather and his colleague only did that they left one game and went into another. On this my path Gamer was paused.

After another year or two, from time to time I was sent to my grandmother through my father, to the other end of the city. If anyone fumbles in Rostov-on-Don, then it was the path from the West to Alexandrovka.

I very often spent her weekend. In addition to my grandmother, two of my aunts lived in the apartment: Oksana and Natasha. Natasha studied at that time at school, in the sixth or seventh grade, and she had a computer.

It is clear that all my attention was captured by a PC. It was on it that I knew the basics of using the computer. Nothing serious: start, open paint, draw, clean the sheet, still draw. But without games, it was not there either.

There was a Kuzya householder in which I did not play. She also had a collection of quest games with some kind of fish. I don’t remember at all what it was called and how it looked. The only thing I remember is how the fish for which we played is sailing from the lesson at school in search of either treasures, or some other garbage.

I clearly remember that there was a mystery with sea nodes, where it was necessary to pull on the desired lace, checking with a book about sea nodes. I also remember that there were a lot of interactive objects surrounded, pressing on which funny animations were played. In the training class, for example, there was a dinosaur on the shelf, clicking on which he drank from a bowl next to him, making characteristic sounds. While I wrote the text, I found this game. This is Freddy’s fish. There is a whole series of quests.

But this is all baby babble. A https://gamblingdata.net/casinos/spin-palace-casino/ real treasure was still a favorite strategy: “Stronghold Crusader”. God, how many hours I spent in it … I can’t even convey with what pleasure I built quarries, apple orchards, mills and watched how it all works. Little little men ran about their business and said “good morning, your lordship” or “no taxes-that’s good, but maybe you will add something?”.

I did not go to combat regimes, because the aunt did not tell me how, but I did not need them. Again, I would just grab a couple of times and return to normal construction. For there was enough mechanic there to captivate me. If I wanted action, I built cells with dogs. In that version there was a separate button to “release dogs”, which I did, setting them on peasants or to the armed army. Sometimes could fire oil if there was nothing to do. In short, I love this game with all my heart and from time to time I play.

I would call this part heated in front of a really huge layer, because after a couple of months aunt bought PlayStation 1.

PlayStation 1

Oh, here, probably, my personal gaming boom was, because the aunt on PS1 had enough games of different genre. Despite the fact that I could play them only when I came to visit, I managed to go a lot and even several times. It is important to note that next to the apartment of the grandmother, right on the stairwell, another guy lived. Honestly, I do not remember his name, but I often called him to visit to play together on a curling iron. Fortunately, the second gamepad allowed this. Let’s start in order.

The very first play on the PlayStation that I played was Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor Underground. Visually, they were no different from each other, so if I got stuck at a level in one game, I just started another. I have never passed any of them to the end. This happened two years ago when I decided to remember the old days and go through two games on an emulator.
These are gorgeous games with a wonderful orchestral soundtrack and a very cozy menu.

“Quiet villages. Endless fields “. It was such formulations that were used to describe what is happening on the screen in a comic video that was launched if nothing is pressed for a long time in the main menu.

As far as I know, Spielberg himself had a hand in development, trying to make a blockbuster about the Second World War in video games format.

It was not just a set of unrelated missions. They had a plot, and the levels were combined in the mission. Here we are fighting on the streets of Paris at several levels, here in the desert we undermine the tanks with grenades, and here is a terrible castle with life -off armor. Bitch, even now it was terribly for me to go through it.

There were many different weapons, which in a particular configuration was issued to the level. Fuck, but there were even fragments of social stealth, where we, as an agent 47, put fake documents in the face to the guards.P

This is where I really spent a lot of time, so it’s in the local multiplayer. I played in the format of the separated screen either with aunt, then with a neighbor. Before the battle, you could choose a set of weapons that both players will have. Balance in pristine form.

Choosing weapons and cards for kneading

The shootout is in full swing

If we could not determine who shoots steeply, then we solved the conflict in hand -to -hand combat. And I’m talking about Tekken now.

Aunt had a disc, the second and third parts. Most of all I played in the third, because it seemed to me more beautiful: animation, graphics, etc. D. At first glance, I fell in love with the Yushumitsu fighter and almost always played for him. He has sharpening, which means he is a priori stronger.

Celendge. Red -hot sword against needle

There was no question of memorizing the combo, but I tried to avoid the stupid Batommeshong. Unless, of course, someone did not take Eddie. Then it was just possible to ride an erysipelas and drag.

If you ask me what Tekken remembers most of all, then this is music and slowed down replay after the final blow. It was always cool to look at slowed down, as someone goes to the knockout after a beautiful turntable. I went through Arkad for all the characters and wildly perplexed how to play for a doctor who constantly lies on earth.

I generally like Tekken with its absence of fireballs most. Extremely close contact and skill of the battle decide the outcome of the duel. And how did I, after many years, Kaifanil when my classmate put a monitor with a curling iron in the trunk of his car. And so, in the parking pocket, we stood and chopped into Tekken. Mmm.

Car. Hmm. Exactly. Race.

Now I don’t really like a racing genre. Not mine. But at that time I managed to play a lot. For example, “Driver”. And yes, I never passed the training mission in the parking lot.

And how many hours I spent at Need for Speed: High Stakes … it’s just tin. What a fucked soundtrack was there. Literally last month, the subscriber threw off a fragment from this game. And I stick up for 40 minutes, listening to music. Not far from my grandmother lived my brother with his own PS1, who was dragging on the races. Therefore, with him I played the most hours in this genre.

Naturally, there were not without single games. I remember how I in Syphon Filter burned opponents with a shocker at the first level. I also remember how I was infuriated that enemy grenades had such a range of action that they killed me, even when I was far away.

Unfortunately, I was stuck immediately after the boss file in the building of the statue of freedom, where it was necessary to shoot at the tank with a combustible on the back of the boss. In the next mission, it was necessary to act secretly, but because of my age I could not cope. I have plans to someday emulate this miracle and go through this series entirely.

And how not to mention the game that is associated with me the most from the first PlayStation. To be more precise, this is a series of three games, which, to my great happiness, was completely at Aunt. I’m talking about the magnificent “Crash Bandicoot”.

The third part came most to me, because I like to receive various buns during the passage. Music – love from the first notes. I remember how I launched the final battle with the neocortex and just evaded its shots, enjoying the chic melody.

The last battle is. Actually Izi

Bonus after victory

Wife loves these levels

Bonus also deliver

In my opinion, this is the best arcade platform of all. My wife and I regularly go through N’Sane Trilogy once every six months or a year, although the music does not catch me so much there.

The only thing that overshadowed all this euphoria was the lack of its own console at home. And every time I left home from my grandmother, I thought I would be back and continue to play. This went on for a very long time, until one day I returned home and saw my mother playing something on the prefix. I jumped with joy, because now I could play at home when I wanted. I was a little upset by the fact that it was not PS1, but I hastened with conclusions. Raising my eyes to the screen, I saw a game similar to Medal of Honor, but much brighter and more dynamic. I have never seen such a graphics before, and then I noticed the inscription “Sega” on the white building of the prefix.

Many times from different sources I heard about sega. But I could not even imagine that such cool games come out on it. Well, yes, I was too small to understand that Sega could have different models. But also my friends who always asked: “What does you mean, you have Sega on disks, and not on cartridges?”. No, I didn’t have Sega CD.

Dreamcast

I represent you the second most part part of my gaming life after PC. It covers a period from about 6 to 11 years. I was lucky because my mother and stepfather were also loved to play and regularly bought different games. By the way, the photo of those years.

One of the first games I met was Omikron: The Nomad Soul. I think it makes no sense to talk about it in detail, because I have a full review on the channel.

Overview on Omikron

This is a truly unusual project from the creators of Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Fahrenheit, in which David Bowie himself worked on the soundtrack.
